MiSa jazz trio with vocalist

Misa Jazz @ Walk for Prems, Sydney

On Sunday 20 November, we were delighted to be invited to play music for the Walk for Prems 2022, Sydney. Walk for Prems is an annual charity event to raise funds for the Lifes Little Treasures Foundation. They provide support and advice to premature babies and their families. Walks are held simultaneously in Australian capital cities. The 2022 walk was held on the shores of Sydney harbour at the picturesque Rushcutters Bay Park.

After a very early soundcheck and setup, we were joined by guest vocalist Natasha Moldrich of “Mellow Street“. The brief for this gig was upbeat music with pop numbers mixed in, and that’s just what we played. The staging was excellent, the audience inspiring, and the day gorgeous (if quite windy). Saul did double-duty this day, agreeing to act as MC for the event too. It was such a pleasure to play for this event and meet so many dedicated volunteers, not to mention hearing the incredible stories of perseverence from families of very premature babies.

A poignant moment came with a dove release ceremony to honour the memory and lives of the babies who tragically didn’t make it. Natsha and Michelle played a moving rendition of “over the rainbow” to conclude the ceremony as a flock of pure white doves were released by a pair of two-year-old ‘premmie’ twins and their parents.

It was a wonderful event with many meaningful moments and memories. We were proud to play at the Walk for Prems and help support the important work of LLTF.
